You may have spent years learning how to function in a world that was not designed with you in mind. You may have become exceptionally good at adapting, masking, performing, meeting expectations, and appearing as though everything is fine while privately feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or simply done.

You do not have to become more “normal” to feel better. Therapy can be a place where you no longer have to perform, explain away your experience, or work so hard to fit someone else’s idea of how you should be.

I am Linda Storm, a senior psychotherapist who provides neurodiversity-affirming psychotherapy for adults, including autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD adults, as well as adults who identify with Asperger’s or are exploring whether neurodivergence may help explain patterns they have experienced throughout their lives. My work is grounded in the understanding that people are shaped not only by their individual characteristics, but also by relationships, history, expectations, environments, and the demands placed upon them.

Together, we look beneath the surface of what is happening now. We may explore anxiety, trauma, burnout, masking, shame, executive functioning difficulties, relationship patterns, identity, emotional regulation, or the feeling that you are capable of so much but somehow cannot keep carrying everything. We also consider the cumulative effect of living in environments that may repeatedly require you to override your sensory, cognitive, emotional, or relational needs.

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and psychodynamic, while remaining flexible enough to meet you where you are. I pay close attention to how you communicate, process information, experience emotion, and make meaning of your life. Therapy is collaborative rather than prescriptive, and your autonomy remains central to the work.

For some clients, that means slowing down and creating enough psychological safety to understand experiences that have never quite made sense. For others, it means understanding the impact of masking, chronic invalidation, late recognition of autism or ADHD, cumulative stress, or autistic burnout. We may also explore how your identity, relationships, work, culture, gender, or other aspects of your lived experience interact with your mental health.

I believe that being understood is not a small part of therapy. It is often where meaningful change begins. I will not assume that a behaviour is a problem simply because it looks different from what others expect, and I will not assume that distress is evidence that something is wrong with you.

My role is to help you understand yourself with greater clarity and compassion, identify the patterns that keep you stuck, and develop ways of living that are more sustainable and more genuinely your own. Sometimes that involves making changes within yourself, and sometimes it involves recognizing that something in your environment, relationships, or expectations needs to change.

I also offer structured assessment as part of the therapeutic process when it can help clarify patterns in attention, executive functioning, social communication, or related areas. When appropriate, I integrate EMDR and clinical hypnotherapy with psychotherapy to support deeper therapeutic work.

Whether you are seeking therapy because you are overwhelmed, burned out, anxious, carrying the effects of trauma, navigating a late discovery of neurodivergence, or simply tired of working so hard to hold everything together, you do not need to arrive with a perfectly explained story.

You can start where you are.

I provide remote psychotherapy to adults in Ontario and Alberta.
